Card Guard is an Ally in Queen of Hearts' Villain deck. It comes in four varieties, one for each of the suits in a standard deck of cards: Club, Diamond, Heart, and Spade. Card Guards form part of Queen of Hearts' win condition, as she needs one at each of her locations converted into a Wicket before she can play Take the Shot.

When Activated, a Card Guard is turned 90° onto its side and becomes a Wicket. While a Wicket, it still counts as an Ally (for cards like Very Merry Unbirthday or Down the Rabbit Hole), but cannot be used during Vanquish actions to defeat Heroes. A Wicket can be Activated to turn it back upright, allowing it to participate in Vanquish actions, but no longer counting towards the playing of Take the Shot.

Strategy[]

Play and Activate these early and often. The quicker you get them out, the quicker you can play Take the Shot, and the more of them you have out, the harder it is for Fate cards to mess with your plans. These should always be played, never discarded. Can be used to Vanquish in a pinch, if absolutely necessary, but this should preferably be done with extras. Try to use Off With Your Head! or Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum instead.
