"Now go with a curse and serve me well!"

Maleficent is one of four playable Villains in the Villainous introductory set, Introduction to Evil. She is from the movie Sleeping Beauty, released in 1959, in which she is voiced by Eleanor Audley and animated by Marc Davis.

She has cards of a unique type, Curse, which add effects to locations, but also each have a condition under which they are discarded from play. She can move them to different locations using the Move an Item or Ally action.

Objective[]

Maleficent must play Curses and move them as needed so she has at least one Curse at each location in her realm. Her Curses can only be played to locations where she has an Ally, but once she has one at each location, she wins immediately.

Strategy[]

The Introduction to Evil version of Maleficent plays quite similarly to the original, and her old strategy guide will still be fairly relevant, with the following exceptions:

  • Curses now can only be placed at a location with an Ally (excepting Raven, who also costs 1 more Power now). This encourages Maleficent to play her Goons throughout her Realm, rather than just discarding them to get to her Curses more quickly.
  • Maleficent no longer has to wait until the start of her turn to win, which means her opponents will have to be more proactive in Fating her. However, it is more difficult to get out multiple Curses in one turn now, given the new Ally requirement.
  • Merryweather now prevents Curses from being moved to her location, in addition to preventing them being played there, meaning you can't just ignore her and move a Curse under her, you must defeat her.
