Tokens are used to physically represent several concepts in the game.
Fate Token[]
As of the release of Introduction to Evil, Ravensburger's official stance is that the Fate Token is no longer used. They suggest that you can use this rule for previously published Disney Villainous games, or you can use the Fate Token as originally described in your games' rule book. In the original The Worst Takes it All rules, the Fate Token was used in 5 or 6 player games. The following three expansions (Wicked to the Core, Evil Comes Prepared, and Perfectly Wretched) state that the Fate Token be used in games of 4 or more players, before the rule was changed back to 5 or more in Despicable Plots.
When a player in a game using the Fate Token is targeted by the Fate action, they take the Fate Token, and cannot be Fated again until another player has been the target of a Fate action, thus giving the Fate Token to that other player. This is used to prevent a player from being the target of potentially 5 Fate actions in a row before taking another turn.
Lock Token[]
A Lock Token is used to signify a location in a Villain's Realm is locked. It is placed on the designated location at the start of the game, and usually removed once a certain condition is met (Ursula's Lock Token remains on her board for the whole game).
Power Tokens[]
Power Tokens are used to signify how much Power a player has accumulated. A Supply of Power Tokens is kept within reach of all players (The Worst Takes It All provides a plastic Cauldron as a receptacle for them), and when a player gains, spends or loses Power, they take it from or return it to that supply. This Power supply is not component limited: if the players together acquire more Power than there are available tokens, substitutions can be made. The Power Tokens are also used by Evil Queen (to indicate how much Poison she has) and Mother Gothel (to indicate how much Trust she has).
Strength Tokens[]
Strength tokens are used by Lotso, Syndrome, Oogie Boogie, King Candy, and Shere Khan to indicate changes in Strength of Heroes and Allies. They come in several values, and are not component-limited - you can use proxies if you need more. They are required for Lotso's Objective, and Syndrome makes use of them since they appear in the same set. Oogie Boogie, King Candy, and Shere Khan also make use of them since they appear in their respective sets.
Villain-Specific Tokens[]
Some Villains have Tokens that are unique to their gameplay. Specifically:
- Cruella De Vil has Puppy Tokens to represent puppies she captures.
- Pete has Goal Tokens to determine which goals must be fulfilled at which locations.
- Gaston has 8 Obstacle Tokens, 2 at each of his locations, that he must remove to complete his goal.
- Lady Tremaine has 5 Trapped Tokens that can trap heroes, nullifying their abilities.
- King Candy has a Racer Token that is put onto the board once a Glitch is attached to Vanellope von Schweetz. It covers the action it is currently on. It will be moved throughout the course of the game and if it passes the Start/Finish action, it will be removed from the board and all attached Glitches will be put back into King Candy's Hand. If King Candy passes the Start/Finish action before the Racer Token, he wins the game.
- Shere Khan has 4 Fire Tokens that can cover individual actions as if they were Heroes and prevent him from completing his Objective.
